Dr. Abel S. Mathew is a licensed psychologist and fellowship-trained clinical neuropsychologist specializing in comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations across clinical, forensic, and sports medicine contexts. He has completed advanced postdoctoral training in both sports concussion and traumatic brain injury at the Children’s Health Andrews Institute and forensic neuropsychology at Price, Proctor & Associates in affiliation with UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Dr. Mathew conducts a wide range of evaluations for adults and adolescents, including those related to brain injury, neurodegenerative disease, civil and criminal forensic matters, and academic and occupational accommodations. His assessment work is informed by a strong foundation in research, having published extensively on concussion recovery, anxiety-related conditions, and cognitive functioning.

In addition to neuropsychological assessment, Dr. Mathew provides evidence-based psychotherapy for individuals experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and obsessive-compulsive and related disorders, with a particular focus on body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs) such as trichotillomania and excoriation (skin picking) disorder.

Dr. Mathew is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern, where he is involved in teaching and supervision in forensic and neuropsychological assessment.
